Questions
Is a service charge the same as a tip?
No. A service charge added by the restaurant is voluntary under Indian consumer guidelines and you may ask for it to be removed. A tip is what you choose to leave on top.
Should I tip on the amount before or after GST?
Convention is on the pre-tax bill, since GST goes to the government rather than the staff.
